Optimise for hiring
The stack determines who you can hire and how fast. A niche framework with a small talent pool is a recurring recruitment tax.
Check local job market data before committing.
Check the support horizon
Look at release cadence, LTS policy, and whether the maintainers are funded. A framework abandoned in two years is a migration you did not budget for.
Prefer projects with institutional backing and a track record.
Spend your novelty budget once
Every unfamiliar technology costs learning time and debugging time. Pick at most one genuinely new thing, and make it the one closest to your differentiator.
Everything else should be the option your team already knows.
Where to go from here
If you are weighing stack selection for an upcoming project, the useful next step is usually a short scoping conversation rather than a longer article. Bring your constraints — budget, timeline, existing systems, and the team you already have — and the decision usually resolves itself in an hour.
We run these as a fixed-scope discovery session with a written recommendation at the end, including the cases where our advice is that you do not need us.
